When developing our products, we always look to feature sustainability in every single aspect. One thing that frustrated us was adhesive.

When we started to develop our organic candle, we knew we wanted to think about creative ways to make our packaging even better than just "recyclable". And so we settled on a plantable wrap that will transform into British wild flowers if you plant it in your garden. But what would happen to the glue?

Another focus was on removing any tiny non-sustainable parts and improving them. Most candles have a small "wick retainer" that helps keep the wick stuck and centred at the base of the candle. Manufacturers use a small adhesive pad or industrial glue to achieve this. Although only a small part of the candle, nevertheless it's a small piece of plastic that can't be recycled or won't break down.

Luckily, after much searching, we've found a solution. A world-first suitable adhesive that's certified biodegradable, microplastic free, and made right here in the UK.

Starting with our soon-to-be-launched organic range, all adhesive used in the manufacturing process will be certified biodegradable, and we aim to phase this into the rest of our range as stocks are replenished.
