Essential Oil Spotlight: Hyssop

Our Hyssop essential oil is sustainably harvested in Bulgaria.

Hyssop is a mint-like shrub, which has been used for thousands of years as a herbal remedy and food ingredient. Hyssop is mentioned in the Bible and in ancient Greek literature, but we think the "hyssop" mentioned there are likely to be a variety of herbs and not the shrub we currently refer to as hyssop, which is native to South East Europe. It's a pretty shrub, and great for pollinators with the blue flowers attracting bees and butterflies.

Harvested twice a year, hyssop essential oil is steam distilled and adds a slightly minty, spicy note to the smooth and warming notes of our Eventyr candle.
